Jose D., Case Manager

Jose is a case manager at Recover Together Bend and has worked in the dual diagnosis treatment field for 3 years.

In that short time, Jose has gained experience working with varying special populations in multiple positions; from counseling previously incarcerated individuals, to securing a role of Program Director and managing the cases of clients struggling with substance use serving the LGBTQ community.

As both a member of the LGBTQ community and with his experience in working closely with the demographic, Jose has insight into the unique barriers to treatment faced by the community and has learned how to employ inventiveness when it comes to navigating these barriers. He meets every client, face-to-face, on their first day of clinical programming to ensure a plan is devised to optimize success, whether that is addressing legal matters, prioritizing medical needs, planning aftercare, and beyond.

Jose is currently in the process of obtaining certification as an alcohol and drug counselor (CADC-I); he completed his education with CCAPP Academy and is presently a Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM). Jose is projected to begin his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology this Fall semester August 2024, with the goal of obtaining a Master’s Degree and becoming an LMFT. Jose still finds ways to apply his creativity in exploring solutions for all clients and their individual needs.

Jose was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California and spent the last 5 years living in Los Angeles, California where he began his work in the substance abuse treatment field. In his free time, you can find Jose exploring hikes in the area with his fiancee and fur baby (Dax), spending quality time with loved ones barbequing in his backyard, and ordering all appetizers at any nearby restaurant.
